Kitebuggy season final 2012 – Buggy World Cup in Cherrueix (France)
26.Jun.2012:Team rider Pascal Lohmann is once again a member of the German World Cup team.
On Pentecost weekend, the Kitebuggy season 2012 was gone into the final round on the beautiful Island of Borkum in the North Sea. The final two races in St. Peter-Ording Pascal just barely missed the top 10. So Borkum was a welcome change, with the huge courses and various surfaces, offering good conditions for depower kites.
Over the Pentecost days, the high pressure system “Otto” brought bright sunshine and a cloudless sky. On Saturday, the wind blew at a force of 4-5. In the first two rounds, Pascal placed 15th and 12 th with the 12 m² and 15 m² Speed3.
Sunday began with relatively low winds. Although it was possible to ride in the hard area, but there was no chance for cruising upwind in the soft dune landscape. The alternative program consisted of an organizational briefing for the European Championship 2013, which will take place in September on Borkum.
Luckily, winds picked up allowing for the race to get started. After a smart mixer test Pascal deflated the tyres a bit and started with the 19 m² Speed3. The material tuning was truly worth it. The low tyre pressure made a positive impact in the soft sand. After three rounds on the course he reached the finish line in 6th place. In the subsequent race he finished in 9th place with the 15 m² Speed3.
Because of 8th place in the weekly ranking Pascale dropped from 12th to 9th place in the overall ranking and is now qualified for the World Cup in Cherrueix on the Atlantic coast of France. From the 8th – 15th June, the best riders from 16 nations will battle for the World Cup title.
As representatives of the depower fraction, Pascal hopes again for changing conditions.
