Christine Bönniger on the Podium at the PKRA Germany 2012
20.Jul.2012:Once again the Flysurfer Team descended on Sankt Peter-Ording for the annual PKRA Germany Tourstop. The PKRA Germany is the biggest event on the tour with almost 100,000 spectators and a huge side program.
Team Rider Christine Bönniger finished second at the PKRA Germany Racing. It is an amazing achievement and we are all proud of her and how she has developed in the last few months. No doubt she has a bright future in Kiteboard Racing.
It was a hard fight against a seasoned competitor like Katja Roose. Tine managed to win the first 3 Races on the first days racing. Katja clawed back getting 2 wins on the second day, but Tine kept the lead with 2 wins of her own. In the end it came down to the last race on the final day, and sadly Tine was bested by Katja.
The others did pretty well too. The surprise in the Team was that Gunnar Biniasch managed to finish in 10th place in the end. He has just come back from a serious back operation and no one was more surprised then himself that it was going so well. Benni Bölli was close behind in 12th place and Emmanuel Norman was showing how the Flyrace Board can still keep up and managed a good 15th place.
Race and Freestyle where not the only disciplines on show. Airstyle was back this year. Benni and Emmanuel rocked the qualification both easily winning their heats and getting great applause from the crowd.
Strangely both were pitted against each other in the 1st heat. Emmanuel had it easy as Benni was caught out on land in the squall that came though just before the heat and had to eject his kite. Emmanuel was on the water and managed to sit it out. Emmanuel would go through to finish 4th place in the single elimination.
In the doubles Benni was defeated by Kevin Langeree. We all did not really know why, but it must have been a close decision. Emmanuel did not manage to hold his 4th place and would have to be happy with the 5th place in the end. Both of them gave their all, and gave a great show regardless of what was decided by the judges.
Overall it was a great 10 days of competing, partying and demos at the Kitelife Village.
Thank you to all who came to visit us at our tent and we hope to see you again there next year.
Your Flysurfer-Team
