This competition for talented riders under 18 years old, was held under very cold conditions and organized by Natural High on the Brouwersdam, the Netherlands. The seventh edition also attracted participants from Germany and Belgium. Often this is the closing event of the competition season, although exceptionally late this year on the 10th and 11th of November there is also a Dutch Championship planned in Scheveningen.

The kiting took place under difficult circumstances. There was a special competition program, so the riders did not have to wait too long in their wetsuits between heats for showing their tricks to the jury. Not only the cold, but also harsh winds and high waves made difficult conditions for the riders. However, Van der Meij with his new Flysurfer Speed 4 freestyle & high-wind kite showed style and power in all his heats and performed great.

Resulting in a deserved win of the competition. According to Youri Zoon, PKRA Freestyle World Champion 2011: “Dylan’s performance was head and shoulders above the rest of the freestyle fleet.” A very nice compliment to get from the current freestyle World Champion!

In December, Van der Meij will leave the cold Netherlands for a month to train in the warm waters of Brazil. So he will be well prepared for upcoming kite competitions next year. On his 2013 program are: KTE (Kite Tour Europe) and some stops in the PKRA (Professional Kiteboard Riders Association, the World Tour).

We wish Dylan all the best of luck, further progression and the whole Flysurfer team want’s to congratulate him with this awesome win!
