Dylan van der Meij (17) wins the Best Trick Competition at Dutch Nationals Freestyle Kitesurfing
12.Nov.2012:Unfortunately, after a windless 1st day at the Dutch Nationals Freestyle Kiteboarding competition, during the 2nd day around 13:30 a good breeze picked up.
The organization, plagued by windless weekends since October, did not hesitate and jumped into action with a modified freestyle program to create an ‘alternative’ Dutch Championship.
The riders were given the task to perform their best jump/tricks, in three rounds to show to the international jury. The best three riders from the all entries where selected to go on to the finals, the finalists were; Jerrie van der Kop (Hoorn), Dylan van der Meij (Noordwijk) and Rens van der Schoot (Heemstede). The final was a thrilling 10 minute heat, in which all finalists simultaneously showed there maximum skills to the jury and spectators on and above the cold North Sea water. The judges rated on style, speed, difficulty level and execution of the jumps/tricks. The final decision felt in favor of Flysurfer International teamrider Dylan van der Meij (17) which showed an awesome freestyle performance with his Flysurfer Speed3 12m CE and his Flyboards Radical4 M with wakeboard-boots setup.
Dylan has a very successful season behind him with several podium finishes this year. Earlier this year Dylan has won the prestigious “KiteBoardOpen” and won (for the third time in a row) the junior freestyle competition “Man of the Dam” and now he can add the “unofficial” Dutch Freestyle Nationals, Best Trick competition to his result sheet.
In December, Dylan will leave the cold Netherlands for a month to train in the warm waters of Brazil. So he will be well prepared for upcoming kite competitions next year. On his 2013 program are: KTE (Kite Tour Europe) and some stops in the PKRA (Professional Kiteboard Riders Association, the World Tour).
We wish Dylan all the best of luck, further progression and the whole Flysurfer team want’s to congratulate him with another awesome win!
